When you think you’re “just a newbie RD,” it shows up in everything you do.
It shows up when you post on Facebook, attend a virtual networking event, and even when someone finally reaches out about working with you (it shows up in what you say, and how you say it). You walk into these situations and completely lose your confidence as an RD who can help.
It also shows up while you are listening to a potential client tell you their problem on a Discovery Call. Instead of really listening, you spend your precious time with them, searching for the answer to help them, thinking about what to say next, or how to say it in a way that is simple and to the point.
You spend the entire call questioning yourself instead of serving your client.
It shows up when clients tell you they “can’t afford it”, or “need to wait until after they speak with their spouse”, or that they “can’t justify another expense right now.” And you lose all of your confidence not knowing what to say next.
These things come up on ALL Discovery Calls…with EVERYONE. But when you think you’re “just a newbie,” it blocks you from finding the thing you need to do next as a PROFESSIONAL.
That one thought blocks you from clarity and asking great questions, and walking your client through their problem and into a solution.
This feels like it is only happening to you…because you’re just a newbie…thus stacking the evidence HIGH for your case against yourself. Which of course, only perpetuates the problem.
So, what is the SOLUTION?
It might surprise you. Because it isn’t necessarily, “becoming a better RD” and working on your “counseling” skills.
Which is what MOST RD’s THINK.
That won’t solve this problem. The problem isn’t that you’re a new, inexperienced RD.
The problem, is you haven’t learned how to SELL.
There are specific things you need to say right after a client says NO and gives an objection. There are certain questions you need to ask BEFORE you talk about price. There are ways to handle when clients ghost you.
You just need a plan.
You need to go through a proper Discovery Call step by step without winging it.
You need to know how to start and end a Discovery Call and turn it into a payment, a (confident) NO, or an immediate follow-up. You need to know HOW to go beyond the surface objection without compromising the relationship with your client, making them defensive, or getting hung up on.
The Dietitian’s Guide to Overcoming Money Objections ebook gives you all the questions you need to ask, how to handle objections, and how to figure out exactly where you went wrong on a Discovery Call…to help you get it right, quickly.
